BeauFort London – Sirenide

The islands of Orkney, located to the North of Scotland, play host to the inspiration of this fragrance. According to ancient Orkney myth, shapeshifting creatures – Selkies – inhabit the bodies of seals and, coming out of the water, shed their skin to walk among the human population. Often in these stories the selkie’s skin is found and hidden by local men, and they are forced to marry their human captor. [PARA] In our rendering of this tale, however, the selkie takes the upper hand… horrified that he has tanned her precious skin, the selkie poisons her captor, reclaiming the leather and returning finally to the tumbling sea. [PARA] Sirenide therefore, is a suitably formidable fragrance: powerful and haunting, with triplicate aspects of ‘skins’ developing on your own. Rabanne – La Collection – BURNING LEATHER

Inspired by Calandre (the first fragrance created by Monsieur Rabanne in 1969), Burning Leather reimagines the fragrance experience with a contemporary twist that comes to life through an intensely primal leathery gourmand amber signature designed for a new generation of fragrance lovers. [PARA] An ode to the most sensual adventure in the leather seats of a vintage car, Burning Leather draws on the primal nature of raw leather while inviting addictive, smoky facets to create an impossibly desirable leathery gourmand ambery trail. [PARA] At the top, bergamot essence brings freshness and luminosity through a citrusy note while coriander seed lifts the fragrance with a hint of spice. Aesop – Above Us, Steorra

A new chapter unfolds in Aesop’s aromatic story as the brand’s latest Eau de Parfum—a glowing constellation of Amber, emblazoned with a radical streak of Cardamom—takes the form of a fragrant, thought-provoking fable. Harnessing Aesop’s unique olfactory signature—noted for its depth and complexity—Above Us, Steorra illuminates an enduringly nonconformist approach to fragrance creation, and a yet uncharted realm for amber fragrances. [PARA] The story began with an abstract set of inspirations that Aesop shared with long-term fragrance collaborator Céline Barel: a poem by Mayuzumi Madoka titled ‘Shooting Star’, a photograph of the night sky, and imagery detailing the various hues of amber. This characteristically unconventional starting point led to discussions about the sense of awe and possibility one feels when looking up at a star-strewn sky—an experience that often leads thoughts to follow unexplored trajectories. To capture the essence of his muses, Yves Saint Laurent turned to ink. Thousands of sketches flowed from his hand, each fluid stroke revealing the inspiring silhouettes of his ideal. In those bold, black lines, he translated inspiration into tangible form, immortalizing the essence of his muses and all the creativity he drew from them. [PARA] Ink is the enigmatic accord chosen for Le Vestiaire des Parfums’s new fragrance: MUSE. A strikingly streamlined composition crafted by Principal Perfumer Marie Salamagne : “The ink reveals enigmatic woody notes, intimate and elegant smoky facets. It veils the skin in subtle dark, metallic tones, slightly iris-y, earthy. For me, the ink takes on the colours of creativity and mystery. It stimulates the imagination.” [PARA] The dusky note is etched onto a precious ingredient Marie Salamagne compares both to paper and skin, for its softness. Carnal and supple, iris concrete offers powdery, buttery, woody and leather facets for a perfect blend.
